Demon’s Souls is not a game meant to be played once, it’s a game with the catchphrase “The Real Demon’s Souls Starts Here” when you enter NG+, and it is absolutely true. Manipulating world and character tendency, finding all the NPC events, collecting all weapons and spells is a multi-cycle affair that gets more and more fun as you go on. The use of 3D audio is equally good, with many enemies identified by sound long before you see them, but it’s arguably the DualSense controller which makes the most difference. Together with the improved sound, animation, and collision detection there’s a much greater sense of solidity and weight to the remake.
You’ll see the individual expressions of each dregling in outrageous detail as they lunge out of cover to ambush you. Slaying NPCs (specially the friendly ones) will shift your Character Tendency to Black. While we highly discourage doing this, you can obtain some unique items so it can be worth doing before clearing the game. By talking to the Monumental at the near start of the game and saying yes to his question, reaching pure White Character Tendency will net you a Friend Ring from the Monumental.
Unfortunately No Demon’s Souls On Ps4
While many combat encounters with Major Demons are white-knuckle, hand-to-hand brawls, you’ll occasionally encounter giant bosses that seem impossible to take down based on your current equipment. Demon’s Souls has a number of “puzzle bosses,” where you’ll need to find an object in the world to defeat a Major Demon. If you find yourself bashing your head against a boss, there’s probably a clever trick to beating it. Backstabbing is a powerful attack, and since the AI in Demon’s Souls isn’t too bright, it can be easy to get behind an enemy and shank it from the back.
The swamp features pretty simple boss fights, but the areas themselves are a nightmare. I recommend saving those swamps for last — and saving the Penetrator for last. He’s a tough, tough boss that can’t be beaten without a little serious battle experience.
Moreover, it’s novel and almost surreal to see what FromSoftware cooked up in 2009, and how its approach to game-making has evolved since then. It is all around just a magnificent showcase of the power of the PlayStation 5 and an enticing taste and what’s to come if things can look this good on a launch game. All of this is true for Bluepoint’s remake, which largely stays true to the spirit of the original Demon’s Souls, both for better and for worse. Not all of the ways Demon’s Souls differentiates itself from the rest of the Souls series are positive ones. S8 is exceptionally grindy in often frustrating, time-wasting ways. Weapon upgrading is also needlessly convoluted, with 16 different types of upgrade materials to find and make sense of, and almost every weapon type requiring different materials in order to upgrade them.

Visuals and graphics may not mean much to the average player, but the developers wanted to give the gaming community a reason to revisit this timeless classic. Bluepoint Games imported most of the original combat data but rerecorded the animations and voice lines with a few of the actors returning. Players can fight massive dragons and other colossal threats standing in their way. Co-op is another returning feature from the original, which can alloow players to fight demons together or each other by invading their worlds with the Black Eye Stone.
It may not weigh much, but it does stop players from carrying hundreds of Moon Grass and being able to live forever. The PS5’s Demon’s Souls remake is out and reviews have been nothing short of amazing. Comparisons to the original game have already come out and Bluepoint Games has taken the liberty of making a few changes to make the title better.
Ostrava thanks you for rescuing him and gives you the Brass Telescope. Keep going down the stairs, another Dregling will approach you. Dispatch it, and take the left exit to what looks like a small balcony. At the sides of the door frame, you will find two chains, one left and one right. Now go back to the top of the stairs where the boulder was and go to the other side.

While we don’t know for certain how much ownership FromSoftware has to these games, Sony owns part of FromSoftware, and their parent company, Kadokawa. So as of right now, these distinctions may be moot and academic. It’s often forgotten but both games were not only published by Sony, but Sony’s Japan Studio led development on both games, just before Sony would dissolve them and integrate them into Team Asobi.
The Dragon Bone Smasher can be found just after entering the Demon’s Souls Dragon God boss arena, but it requires pure white World Tendency to find. This weapon also gives you slightly more protection against fire damage, making it almost like another piece of armor. This will help you make it through certain levels with a lot of enemies that use fire, such as the Flamelurker boss encountered in the game.
