Many hope Sony will simply let Team Asobi do its thing and are perfectly content giving the next game the time it needs. During the interview, the creative director revealed that they plan on adding Speedrun Levels as part of the DLC, where players can rescue new VIP Bots.
The ball form in Astro Bot is sort of like the ball form in the Metroid series with Samus. Samus, unfortunately, is still vulnerable to attacks in her ball form, so in a one-on-one dual, Astro Bot will probably come out on top. There is another rolling device worth mentioning in passing via an Armadillo which appears mostly in bonus stages. Players can ride on it but this Armadillo is more of a vehicle than a power-up as it doesn’t strap onto Astro Bot and thus doesn’t give him invulnerability. These levels are more difficult and aim to test jumping skills. And of course, each comes with a new Special Bot to rescue, too.
The stages constantly surprise and delight as they take full advantage of the PS5’s hardware. Astro Bot levels are beautiful, brought to life by genius art direction and some of the best graphics on the PS5. It all feels so alive thanks to how the DualSense controller reacts to what players see on the screen, with Astro Bot making great use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and speaker.

The newly released Astro Bot update was announced in a recent PS Blog post, which gave the names of four of the five new levels that will be part of the Vicious Void Galaxy. As seen in the new trophies, the new levels are named Twin-Frog Trouble, Suck It Up, Handhold Havoc, High Inflation, and Megamix Mastery. You must complete the Great Master Challenge in order to find and collect Chop Chop Master Onion Special Bot. Crash Site serves as a kind of hub world, in which players can find 35 Bots and 11 Puzzle Pieces. Sony just never seemed to have an answer to Nintendo’s Mario or Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog. Crash Bandicoot was an iconic character that was exclusive to the PlayStation at the time, but he belonged to a third-party studio. And while Toro from the Doko Demo Issho series reached mascot-like status in Japan, the cute feline character was hardly known outside of PlayStation’s home country. Astro Bot contains 430 Collectible Locations (300 Bots, 120 Puzzle Pieces, 10 Lost Galaxy Secret Levels).
That love and heart that the developers bled into the game, left me with a smile on my face the entire time. And after obtaining the game’s coveted platinum trophy and moving on to something new, I couldn’t help but feel as if I had said goodbye to a dear friend. As I reflect on the memories shared with the bot, I could not view Astro Bot as anything other than a masterpiece. I only hope my friend is ready to collect some well-deserved trophies of his own.
Beating the red bird’s time (75 seconds) will allow players to rescue the Suave Traitor VIP Bot, which is inspired by Albert Wesker from Resident Evil. After rescuing the two Rising Heat Cameo Bots, players will be able to procure items for them from the Gatcha Lab at the Crash Site. The Puzzle Pieces are needed to unlock new areas in the Crash Site hub area. The 10 Wormholes unlock 10 Secret Levels in the ‘Lost Galaxy’. After finishing all 10 Secret Levels you unlock the 11th Secret Level. Astro Bot is beautiful, and not just in a cartoony kind of way.
If you replay levels, you can buy a satellite at the start for coins that marks the collectible locations. However, you need 15,000 coins to buy 150 gatcha items for the Money Well Spent trophy, so it’s best to not spend coins on the satellites. After reaching 100% completion you will have close to 15,000 coins if you don’t spend them on satellites. If you don’t have enough coins you can always replay levels to get more. There are 300 bots to find, and many are pulled from the wider world of gaming.
Dualsense use are be fine, level design/movesets look done before. @Bluetrain7 Nearly every level has at least one Bot to rescue, including the challenge levels and secret levels. In order to get the Platinum, you need to rescue every Bot and get every Puzzle Piece.
When you hover over a level it shows how many collectibles it has and how many you still need. You can also hover over the Nebulas to see how many total collectibles there are in the sub-levels. The hub area ‘Crash Site’ also contains bots and puzzle pieces, which you obtain by interacting with the blue markers to call your bots for help. Then there are 2 extra Nebulas, one for the final story part, and one is the ‘Lost Galaxy’ that contains all 11 secret levels.
One of Astro Bot’s hidden trophies is called “The Lost Eggacy”. To unlock this trophy, you need to find all three Golden Egg “artifacts” on the Dude Raiding world of Serpent Starway. The Dude Raiding level unlocks after you defeat the final boss of Serpent Starway, Lady Venomara. There are 42 Rescued Bots to collect in Serpent Starway, and you must rescue all of them in order to unlock the Fangs Very Much! [newline]This includes all Rescued Bots on secret worlds in Serpent Starway.
It could have been easy for Team Asobi to overdo the callbacks and make this game nothing more than a self-indulgent reference fest. Instead, they treated these cameos and references like a spice that was only occasionally sprinkeld throughout the game. The game puts a lot of this “spice,” but understands that too much will kill the dish. That said, Astro Bot has a lot more than just references, as some levels are solely focused on recreating and paying tribute to past PlayStation games. Like its predecessor, Astro Bot is filled to the brim with PlayStation references and cameos. The most visible ones come in the form of the Special Bots — bots dressed up as famous and obscure PlayStation family characters.

It would be a different game.” Though the explanation makes sense, this likely won’t be welcome news to purchasers of Sony’s headset who are already frustrated over a lack of big games. Astro Bot is only confirmed for PS5 so far but so were a hoard of other PlayStation exclusives now available on PC. Sony has made a point of expanding its player base and sales by bringing franchises such as The Last of Us, God of War, Spider-Man, and more to the platform.
